Weekley & Warkton Cricket Club Sponsorship

Teams from the junior section of the Weekley & Warkton Cricket Club recently attended their annual presentation evening which was held at the clubs main ground at Boughton Park in Weekley, Northamptonshire at the end of the 2019 season.

Sponsored by Lamb & Holmes, the thriving youth section has seen a significant increase in young people wanting to take part in the skilful and traditional English summer sport over recent years. Members of the junior section, along with coaches and parents, enjoyed an evening of fun cricket followed by a presentation rewarding all of the young players who took part in the 2019 season.

The cricket club is eager to promote the sport, giving children a great experience of playing cricket while developing at their own pace. Members of the youth section are encouraged to develop skills which will stay with them for life, in the hope that the majority of all young players will continue and progress into the adult teams whilst having a great deal of fun and learning. The age range of the youth section teams run from age 5 to 15.

Andrew Bussey, who is Club Chairman and a Junior Coach says, “Our youth section is very buoyant, with us regularly having 60-80 children at the Wednesday night training sessions.  We have young beginners on the ECB Allstars programme and age groups at U9, U11, U13 and U15.  Lamb & Holmes’ support is a massive help to us, ensuring we can renew equipment and keep subscriptions at a manageable level.”

Lamb & Holmes have supported the junior section for a number of years. The local firm is excited to be involved with a sport which provides such valuable skill development along with an enormous amount of enjoyment to hopefully encourage local young people to stay in the game for longer.
